Dalle Khursani—from Nepali dalle (“round”) + khursani (“chili”) is a round, cherry-like chili indigenous to Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and eastern Nepal.

Awarded a Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2020 (extended to include Darjeeling & Kalimpong in 2021), it’s a recognized premium crop in Sikkim with growing export and processing markets.

It rates between 100,000–350,000 Scoville Heat Units—comparable to habanero peppers—offering a sharp, fruity heat that mellows gradually.

The plant grows up to 100–130 cm in open fields. Leaves are broad while pods ripen to vivid red resembling cherries.
