Growing and Care Instructions:

    • Start with well-drained soil, enriched with manure compost, and choose a sunny location for the best growth.
    • Sow in 3 pots 1in deep for the earliest crop, warmth will aid germination rates.
    • Harden off before planting out, or sow directly outside, allowing 12-18in between plants and 18in between rows.
    • Essential to plant in blocks, not as a single row, to ensure good pollination and kernel formation.
    • During hot weather, ensure the crop does not dry out, especially during flowering.
    • Ensure the growing location has good drainage and enough humus to ensure the ground will not dry too quickly.
    • Provide additional support and nutrients by growing companion plants like beans next to the corn.

Out of 12 seeds, only 7 sprouted, which was disappointing. Among them, only 3 produced ears, and just 2 seemed viable to save. The other corn I purchased thrived without any issues. Perhaps the climate in Himachal isn’t hot enough for the strawberry popcorn variety?

  2. Deepak Padiyar

The popcorn grew quite nicely. They were small in size but had a couple of ears on each stalk. Planted them a bit late, so some cobs were underdeveloped, but the ones I got had excellent color and looked fantastic.

I tried growing this and glass gem corn for the first time. The strawberry corn did great, giving about 2 cobs per stalk. They all had uniform size and color, with kernels evenly distributed.

  4. Dinesh Nagre

Good germination rate. Multiple cobs per plant. The plants stood around 3 feet tall, and the cobs measured about 2-4 inches long. Lovely and easy plant for small spaces.

  5. Harshada Mankar

Easy and quick to grow, this corn doesn’t cross-pollinate with other varieties effectively.

This is the first time I have ever grown a popcorn variety. It grew effortlessly and boasts a clean, delightful taste. My husband is a big fan!
