Developed by Troy Primeaux of Louisiana Lafayette University, the Big Mustard Mama is a variant of the Big Black Mama, known for creating the 7 Pot Primo.

Expect amazing yields from this variety, as one well-cared-for plant can produce an abundance of wrinkled pods that have a look so intimidating, it might give you a chilli thrill!

Despite its extreme heat, the Big Mustard Mama is celebrated for its exceptional taste, making it stand out among other super hot chilli varieties.

Each seed packet contains 10 seeds of this superhot strain.

Growing Information:

  1. Size and Staking: Big Mustard Mama plants can grow quite large, reaching up to 4 feet tall. Provide sturdy stakes for support, especially as the plant begins to bear the weight of its prolific yield.
  2. Soil and Sunlight: Plant in well-draining soil with plenty of sunlight. These chili plants thrive in full sun conditions, ensuring optimal growth and fruit development.
  3. Watering: Maintain consistent soil moisture, allowing the soil to dry slightly between watering. Avoid overwatering, as it may lead to root-related issues.
  4. Temperature and Climate: Big Mustard Mama prefers warm temperatures. If growing in a colder climate, consider starting seeds indoors and transplanting once the risk of frost has passed.
  5. Harvesting: Pods mature to a mustard-green color and are ready for harvest when they are around 2-3 inches in diameter and almost 3 inches long. Use gloves when handling, given their extreme heat.
  6. Seed Saving: If desired, save seeds from mature pods for future planting. Ensure seeds are fully dry before storage to maintain their viability.
