Jwala is open-pollinated, research-bred, and not a true heirloom, but it is non-hybrid and seed-stable — making it great for home seed saving.

It was bred from Guntur chilli lines, selected for early maturity, slender pod shape, and moderate pungency and has become one of the most popular chilli varieties in India.
